Top 5 Comedies on TV

When I want hard-hitting news I go to CNN, but when I want a laugh I turn to a number of other channels. Sadly, much of the comedy television landscape looks like this, this or this. In other words most of what is on television is...how do you say...horrifyingly, disgustingly terrible. Thankfully a few shows serve as a bastion of hope, shining through the bog of sub-mediocrity. Here is #5 on the List:

My Name is Earl: NBC hit the jackpot with this little show about a man trying to change his karma. Jason Lee is Earl and Ethan Suplee is his brother Randy. They have recaptured the magic that made Mallrats so great. Earl is working on a list of bad things he's done, trying to correct the wrongs he's committed over the years, hopefully this device doesn't get old, but it has stayed fresh so far. Two more things playing into the high ranking of this show are the pair of smoking hot women in it, Nadine Velasquez and Jaime Pressly, yes Jaime Pressly of The Karate Dog! Here's the synopsis of that fine film:

"When LAPD computer expert Peter Fowler investigates the killing of an old man in Chinatown, he finds the only witness is his dog, Cho Cho. But Fowler soon discovers Cho Cho is the only dog in the world who can speak to humans... not only that, Cho Cho is an expert in martial arts. When they join forces to track down the mastermind behind the death of Cho Cho's master, it leads these unusual partners into uncovering a dangerous conspiracy which puts both of their lives in danger." So check out My Name is Earl, Tuesdays at 8 central. It will be worth your time, unless you are reading this from here, then you probably don't have tv.
